1. Install non-slip material on your deck.
2. Have the pool’s electrical systems checked.
3. Make sure your pool is completely surrounded by a fence with a self-closing, self-latching gate.
4. Install a drain cover that meets specifications.
5. Remove any steps and ladders when the pool is not being used.
6. Consider installing an alarm that goes off when someone enters the pool.
7. Make sure all household members know CPR, first aid and pool safety.
8. Sign your kids up for swimming lessons.
9. Always supervise children when they are in or near the pool.
10. Do not let anyone swim alone.
